A TRUE COPY <br />ON LAST <br />XVI. System Overnight BER Test " ,ANIFICATION L. SUTLER, CLERK PAGE <br />Description <br />The purpose of this test is to demonstrate that the system operates error free for 12 hours minimum and 24 <br />hours when testing schedule allows. <br />Instructions <br />Begin by ensuring that no alarms exist on the terminal to be tested. If any alarms are present troubleshoot <br />those alarms and then continue with the test. <br />1. Select circuit(s) and end points to be tested and verify connectivity. <br />2. Login to the radio terminals under test. <br />a. Connect a PC with the EM2 software installed via the serial connector on the front of the terminal <br />labeled "COMPUTER". <br />b. Open the EM2 software and on the initial log -in screen select "Serial" from the pull down and <br />choose the appropriate "COM PORT" that the PC is using. <br />c. Enter the username: "Admin" (note this cannot be changed) enter the password. The default <br />password is "password" which can be changed). Once the correct "Admin" and "User Password" is <br />entered you will be "logged on" and the displayed terminal icons will go from gray to blue to <br />indicate communication with the terminal under test. <br />3. All radios will be cleared out per the steps below and monitored overnight for status results. <br />4. Go to the "Performance" and then "RF & Modem Statistics..." screen. Click the "Reset" button to clear <br />the RF & Modem statistics. <br />5. Go to the "Performance" and then "G.826 Statistics..." screen. Click the "Reset All" button to clear the <br />G.826 values <br />6. Go to the "Status" and then "Link Alarms..." screen. Click the "Reset" button to clear all latched <br />alarms. <br />7. Go to the "Status" and then "Event Logs..." screen. Click on the "Reset Log" button and be sure to do <br />this on all the tabs for each individual radio to clear the log files. <br />8. Reset external BERT Test equipment and run this along with the internal test. <br />9. Note the start time of the test and return to collect the results after a minimum of a 12 hour period has <br />passed. <br />Result <br />This test is deemed passing if the link runs error free for the duration of the test. View the RF & Modem <br />statistics, G.826 Statistics, Link Alarms, Event Logs, and external test equipment to ensure no errors <br />occurred during the test period.
