Reimbursements shall be evaluated and approved based on the <br />criteria below on a first come, first serve basis. Only the cost paid for tuition based on the grade <br />criteria below will be eligible for reimbursement. The courses for eligibility MUST be assigned <br />a course number by the State Fire Marshal or be related to the program of fire or EMS related <br />services. Elective courses and general education courses are not eligible. The County shall <br />also offer tuition reimbursement for employees who successfully complete a paramedic <br />program and attain Florida Paramedic certification after ratification of this Agreement in an <br />amount up to $5,000.00 of tuition reimbursement per employee up to a maximum of $45,000 <br />per fiscal year.. There is no reimbursement for costs beyond tuition including but not limited <br />to uniform costs, lab fees, or other non -tuition expenses <br />A. The employees must first receive written approval prior to taking the <br />course. <br />B. Must execute a payback agreement with the County. <br />I. If the employee voluntarily leaves employment for reasons other <br />than retirement or disability within five (5) years, they will be <br />required to repay the cost of reimbursement on a prorated basis for <br />each year of service not completed (20% per year). <br />Reimbursement will follow the below schedule: <br />"A" - 90% Reimbursement <br />"B" - 75% Reimbursement <br />"C" - 50% Reimbursement <br />No reimbursement will be offered for grades lower than a "C". The official grade -reporting <br />document for each class must be provided for reimbursement consideration. <br />64 <br />
