ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Letter of Agreement with CorVel Corporation and <br />the Application for Worker's Compensation Managed <br />Care Arrangement; authorized the Chairman to execute <br />these documents; and authorized staff to finalize a <br />definitive contract with CorVel; pursuant to <br />recommendations in staff's memorandum. <br />AGREEMENTS ARE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PROGRAM <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of December 11, 1996: <br />TO: James E. Baker <br />Personnel Director <br />DATE: December 11, 1996 <br />RE: Drug -Free Workplace Program <br />BACKGROUND <br />Attached is a proposed change to policy regarding the Indian River <br />County Drug -Free Workplace, which replaces current policy <br />containted in Section AM -601.1 of the Administrative Policy Manual. <br />This policy change provides a 60 day notice to employees that drug <br />and alcohol testing procedures for certain current employees, and <br />pre-employment drug test for all job applicants will be instituted <br />on March 1, 1997. A copy of this policy will be provided to each <br />employee. _ <br />This new policy also contains a more comprehensive program which <br />includes conditions requiring drug and alcohol testing of current <br />employees; availability of education and referral programs through <br />the Employee Health Nurse for assistance and rehabilitation, based <br />on confidentiality; and consequences involved for refusing to <br />submit to drug testing or after a positive result is confirmed. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The Board of County Commissioners approved the attached revision to <br />Section AM -601.1 of the Administrative Policy Manual effective <br />December 17, 1996. <br />DECEMBER 17 1996 107 lu <br />
