By comparison, Phase 1 was surveyed for $72,500.00. Staff believes <br />that Masteller, Moler and Reed's proposal is reasonable considering <br />that Phase 2 has 170% more pipe and 243% more existing features <br />(i.e., driveways, wells, etc. that must be incorporated into the <br />design) than Phase 1. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve the attached contract for <br />survey services in the amount of $144,900.00 and authorize the <br />Chairman to execute same, as presented. <br />In response to Commissioner Ginn's inquiry, Mike Hotchkiss, <br />Utility Department Environmental Engineer, explained that the <br />County had chosen three contractors in response to an RFP and the <br />County rotates the projects among the three. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Macht being absent) approved the <br />contract with Masteller, Moler, and Reed, Inc., for <br />survey services, in the amount of $144,900.00, and <br />authorized the Chairman to execute same, as <br />recommended in the Memorandum. <br />CONTRACT WILL BE PLACED ON FILE IN THE <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERIC TO THE BOARD <br />WHEN PROPERLY EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />STATUS OF COMMNSIONER MACHT'S HEALTH <br />Chairman Eggert advised that she had been handed a telephone <br />message and she was pleased to announce that Commissioner Macht had.. ; <br />successfully undergone an angioplasty procedure for two clogged <br />arteries and that he was now in better shape that ever. <br />CHALLENGE DROP IN POPULATION FIGURES <br />Chairman Eggert referred to a recent newspaper article wherein <br />it stated that Indian River County's population had increased by <br />200 rather than the predicted 2,000. She wished to challenge those <br />figures based on actual happenings in the community, such as <br />utilities, building permits and other data available in County <br />records. <br />43 <br />March 25, 1997 BOOK DO PAM- .: <br />
