ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM COA!Il UME AND DISTRICT — TREASURE COAST REGIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL The Board reviewed a letter of May 13, 1997: F 7 indicn river ` • �I 1 May 13, 1997 Mr. Robert Keating Community Development Director Indian River County 1840 25th Street Vero Beach, FL 32960 Subject: Appointments to Regional Overall Economic Development Program (OEDP) Committee Dear Mr. Keating: As we discussed at a recent meeting in your office, the Board of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council has instructed the Council staff to proceed with the initial steps to develop an OEDP and to form an Economic Development District. The Guidelines provided by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce indicate that an OEDP Committee must be formed to oversee the process. The Committee will set the goals and objectives of the program, identify actions and set priorities to foster economic development and determine appropriate programs and projects to be implemented. The appointment of members to the OEDP Committee is to be done by the counties (Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach) who will be members of the Economic Development District.. The Guidelines provided by the EDA -also -indicate that the OEDP Committee "must represent diverse interests to ensure that viewpoints of all components of the community are considered and to take advantage of local skills in program formulation and implementation."
