UTILITY DIRECTOR POSITION - SEARCH FIRM <br />The Board reviewed Memoranda ofMay 28, 1997 and June 2, 1997: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />DATE: May 28, 1997 <br />SUBJECT: Search Firm - Utility Director Position <br />FROM: James E. Chandler �G <br />County Administrdtor <br />At this time; I have received. proposals from five search firms to assist in the recruitment <br />for the Utility Director position. The proposals are currently being evaluated, previous clients <br />contacted. and some additional information is being requested. I anticipate finalizing the process <br />before the end of the week and transmitting a recommendation to the Board, in advance of the <br />June 3rd meeting, for consideration at that meeting. <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />DATE: June 2, 1997 <br />SUBJECT: Search Firm - Utility Director Position <br />FROM: ,d'an; s E. Chandler <br />/ County Administrator <br />Proposals were requested and received from five search firms to assist in recruitment for <br />the Utility Director position. The services of Personnel Services of South Florida are not <br />oriented predominantly to top management recruitment and therefore not considered. <br />The four firms considered, nearest office and proposed fee structure are: <br />The Mercer Group, Inc. <br />Atlanta, Georgia $15,500 <br />Slavin Management Consultants, Inc. <br />Norcross, Georgia $16,748 <br />David M. Griffith & Associates, Inc. <br />Tallahassee, Florida $19,000 <br />The Curtiss Group International <br />Boca Raton, Florida $15,268 - $22,139* <br />* Fee based on 30% first years compensation; does not include direct expenses. <br />The Curtiss Group was utilized by the City of Vero Beach in the recent City Manager <br />search. The firm does primarily private sector recruitment. <br />The other three firms have extensive public sector experience. Considering the nature <br />and requirements of the position, I believe these three firms could better assist the County. <br />Therefore, after the preliminary review, the detail concentration centered on these three firms. <br />All three employ essentially the same recruitment methodology and have reflected a 60-90 day <br />time frame up to the interview stage. <br />Several clients of each were contacted regarding their experience with the firms. In all <br />instances, the previous clients expressed total satisfaction with the services rendered.
