STARCK, TAX COORDINATOR rO , <br />SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT <br />SUBJECT: <br />PETITION HEARING <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT ASSESSMENT FEES <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Solid Waste Disposal District annual assessment notices were <br />officially dated and mailed on August 15, 1997. Pursuant to <br />Indian River County Ordinance 87-67 and Solid Waste Disposal <br />District Resolution No. 95-01 petitions may be filed by property <br />owners who wish to contest their assessment with the Solid Waste <br />Disposal District Board within 25 days of the date of the <br />assessment notice. Petitions for this year must be filed by <br />5:00 p.m. on September 9, 1997. <br />A petition hearing must be scheduled to hear all petitions no <br />earlier than 30 days and no later than 45 days after the day the <br />notices are mailed. As such, the optimum period for the <br />scheduling of the Solid Waste Disposal District Board Petition <br />Hearing is during the week of September 22-26, 1997. <br />CONCLUSION <br />SWDD staff requests the SWDD Board schedule the SWDD Petition <br />Hearing on one day during the week of September 22-26, 1997. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously scheduled Tuesday, <br />September 23, 1997, immediately following the regularly <br />scheduled meeting of the Board of County Commissioners at <br />9:00 a.m. as the time for SWDD Petition Hearings. <br />AUGUST 26, 1997 <br />PAGE 30'0�-4i�� <br />17 <br />
