National Storm Water Program <br />Excellence Awards <br />The Program <br />In 1991 EPA established the National Storm Water Excellence Award <br />program. Two award categories recognize municipalities and <br />industries that are demonstrating their commitment to protect and <br />improve the quality of the nation's waters by implementing outstand <br />ing, innovative and cost-effective Storm Water control programs and <br />projects. This awards program heightens overall public awareness of <br />storm water measures and encourage public support of programs <br />aimed at protecting the public's health and safety and the nation's <br />water quality. <br />An Awards Review Committee comprised of storm water experts <br />from EPA Headquarters and Regions selects the award recipients. <br />Members of the committee evaluate all aspects of individual projects <br />or programs. <br />The Award Categories <br />Awards are given in two categories: Municipal Storm Water control <br />program and project; and the Industrial Storm Water control prograrr <br />and project. The Department received 2 awards; the first <br />in Atlanta, Georgia and the second was the first place EPA Region 4 award in Chicago, <br />Illinois for the North County Wastewater Treatment Plant, Operation and Maintenance <br />Excellence Award for the southeastern part of the United States. <br />Director Davis then presented the award to Terry Southard, Wastewater <br />Superintendent; Gary Dilts, Operator; Kevin Gibson, Operator; and Tony Etter, Chief <br />Operator; and commended Environmental Engineer Rob Wisemen; Capital Projects <br />Engineer Bill MCCain; and Gene Rauth, Manager of Water and Wastewater Operations. <br />No action taken. <br />(CLERK'S NOTE: At the conclusion of Item II.H.5., the Chairman was notified that a <br />representative of the Fair Association was present and called for a motion to re -open Item <br />71. out of order.
