Surplus Radios -Additional Requestsfor Donations <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of November 20, 1997: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director I <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: November 20, 1997 <br />SUBJECT: Additional Requests For The Donation of Surplus Radios <br />Since the Board approved the donation of old communications equipment and radios to several <br />organizations on September 16 and November 4, 1997, staff has been accumulating the equipment <br />and preparing to transfer it to the respective organizations as directed by the Board. <br />The following three additional requests have been received by staff for the donation of radios and <br />communications equipment: <br />1. Firefighters Indian River County Fair requested that 15 portable radios (with <br />batteries/chargers) and one base station be donated to the Fair Association. <br />2. The Life For Youth Ranch requested 9 mobile radios and 10 portable radios (with <br />batteries/chargers) to assist them in their youth activities and programs. <br />3. The Indian River County Road and Bridge Department requested that 10 portable <br />radios (with batteries/chargers) be donated for use by personnel engaged in <br />controlling traffic during road repairs and construction activities at various sites <br />around the county. <br />RECOIVEMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the requests for donation of communications equipment requested <br />by the respective organizations or agencies as noted above. <br />The remaining surplus communications equipment has been advertised for sale at an auction which <br />will be held on December 13, 1997, at 9:00AM at the School District Warehouse location in Vero <br />Beach. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />1.
