Standard Building Code (SBC), 1997 Edition' <br />Standard Mechanical Code (SMC), 1997 Edition <br />Standard Gas Code (SGC), 1997 Edition <br />SECTION 2. REPEAL. <br />Those portions of the Indian River County Code superseded or in <br />conflict with the provisions herein adopted, in particular Chapter 401, <br />are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of this <br />ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, inoperative, or <br />void, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions of this <br />ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been the legislative intent to <br />pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, invalid or inoperative <br />part. <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />A certified copy of this ordinance, as enacted, shall be filed by the <br />Clerk with the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida <br />within ten days after enactment, and this ordinance shall take effect <br />upon filing with the Secretary of State. <br />Approved and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida, on this 2 day of December , 1997. <br />' Including the engineering design criteria contained in Section 1606 and excluding <br />Chapter 11, "Accessibility for People with Physical Disabilities" and Appendix E, "Energy <br />Conservation". <br />Section 1606 of the Standard Building Code and Section 2313 of the 1996 Revisions of <br />the Standard Building Code for wood frame construction shall be the minimum wind <br />load criteria used for the design of all one and two family dwellings. Compliance with <br />the engineering design criteria contained in Section 1606 may be achieved by using the <br />Southern Building Code Congress International Inc., Standard SSDT 10-96 for <br />Hurricane Resistant Residential Construction, the Wood Products Promotion Council - <br />High Wind Project, Guide to Wood Construction in High Wind Areas "the Builder's <br />Guide", or the Wood Frame Construction Manual for One and Two Family Dwellings, <br />1995 High Wind Edition. The Builders' Guide implementation shall be limited to the <br />construction and design of wood frame single story buildings with wind speed design <br />parameters of 100 and 110 miles per hour. The manual is limited to residential <br />buildings of three stories or less, a mean roof height not exceeding 33 feet and wind <br />speed design parameters between 90 and 120 miles per hour. <br />27 <br />December 2, 1997 <br />600K G PAGE;5 8 <br />
