The Board award the contract to Sheltra & Son Construction Company and <br />direct the Chairman to execute the agreement on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Staff further recommends that the Board direct that all bonds, insurance certificates and other <br />formalities as required by the terms of the contract and bid documents be submitted and approved <br />by the appropriate staff departments responsible, including the Attorney's office prior to issuance <br />of a Notice to Proceed by the Department of Public Works. This project is going to require strict <br />utility coordination and in the event the utility adjustment work requires additional time, the <br />contract time may have to be extended through a change order. <br />Alternative No. 2 The Board reject the bids and not award the contract. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1. Staff recommends that bid be awarded to Sheltra & Son <br />Construction Company as the lowest, most responsive bidder meeting specifications for <br />construction of Culvert Replacement in Lateral "J" and Sub -Lateral "J-5" Canals on Highland <br />Drive SW. The Contract Agreement is now being presented for approval and execution by the <br />Chairman and attesting by the Clerk. We have had four (4) Contract Agreements executed in the <br />original by the proposed contractor, Sheltra & Son Construction Company. Staff will work <br />closely with Risk Management and the Attorney's Office in getting those offices' approval of the <br />insurance certificates and bonds prior to issuing the Notice to Proceed. <br />58 <br />December 9, 1997 <br />
