Commissioner Tippin observed that perhaps the parking requirements could be <br />reduced which might increase the green space. <br />Chairman Eggert then opened the public hearing regarding Item No. 4, <br />Landscaping Clearance from Electrical Facilities. <br />Rachael Scott, Florida Power and Light representative, thanked the Board for the <br />opportunity to work with the County in trying to improve safety and reliability. FPL is <br />making an effort to improve the distances between trees and power lines, particularly in <br />the storm season. She felt that 10 feet would be the minimum for a safety standard and <br />stated that FPL is also trying to maintain clearances of 5 feet from ground facilities. <br />Chairman Eggert supported the clearances with tears in her eyes for some of the <br />50 to 100 year-old trees which will be affected. <br />Chairman Eggert asked if anyone else wished to be heard regarding Item No. 4. <br />There being none, she closed the public hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Tippin, the Board, <br />by a 3-1 vote (Commissioner Ginn opposed and <br />Commissioner Adams being absent) approved Item <br />No. 4 as submitted by staff. <br />Chairman Eggert then opened the public hearing regarding the entire proposed <br />Ordinance and asked if anyone wished to be heard. There being none, the Chairman <br />closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Ginn reiterated that she did not think the provision of 10% of the <br />total paved area for off-street parking to be provided with interior landscaping, nor the <br />minimum dimension of at least 10 feet in areas where a tree is planted, was adequate. <br />DECEMBER 16, 1997 <br />-23- bfn F?�C£ <br />
