January 6, 1998 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met in Regular <br />Session at the County Commission Chambers, 1840 25' Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on <br />Tuesday, January 6, 1998. Present were John W. Tippin, Chairman; Kenneth R. Macht, <br />Vice Chairman; Fran B. Adams; Carolyn K. Eggert and Caroline D. Ginn. Also present <br />were James E. Chandler, County Administrator; Charles P. Vitunac, County Attomey; and <br />Patricia Ridgely, Deputy Clerk. <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br />2.A. INVOCATION <br />Commissioner Ginn gave the invocation. <br />2.B. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />Commissioner Adams led the Pledge to the Flag. <br />3.A. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND OUT -GOING OtAH MAN'S <br />Chairman Eggert thanked her fellow Commissioners for all their support and help and <br />desire to keep the meetings exciting. She also thanked Administrator Jim Chandler. It had <br />been a unique year and both of them made it to January 1998. She also thanked staff as a <br />whole, all through the ranks; the employees have really put their hearts and souls into the <br />effort. She mentioned specifically the efforts of General Services Director/Acting Solid <br />Waste Disposal District Director H.T. "Sonny" Dean, Public Works Director/Acting Utilities <br />Director James Davis, Acting Personnel Director Tom Bisaillon, Emergency Services <br />Directorpoug Wright, Community Development Director Bob Keating, and Budget Director <br />Joseph A. Baird.
