L`OoK YJ t -v Fi1UL f�J'U`9d <br />PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING REPRESENTATIVE GILDA COBB- <br />HUNTER, MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA <br />HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES <br />WHEREAS, Representative Gilda Cobb -Hunter will return to her hometown of Gifford, Florida <br />to be the guest speaker at the Thomas -Powell Memorial Scholarship banquet on April 25, 1998; and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Cobb -Hunter graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1970, and <br />received her bachelor's degree from Florida A&M University; and <br />WHEREAS, she continued her education to receive her master's degree from Florida State <br />University and is a licensed independent Social Worker, and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Cobb -Hunter is the executive director of CASA/Family Systems, a <br />family violence agency serving Orangeburg, Bamberg and Calhoun counties; and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Gilda Cobb -Hunter has worked on national, regional and state levels <br />on a variety of progressive issues and serves on the South Carolina Fav Share Board, the South Carolina Low <br />Income Housing Coalition, SAFEKIDS, Palmetto TndIs and Planned Parenthood of South Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Cobb -Hunter is a member of the South Carolina House of <br />Representatives serving on the Ways and Means Committee, die Operations and Management Committee <br />and is Vice Chair of the African-American Monument Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Cobb -Hunter has been married for 22 year to another former <br />Giffordite, Dr. Terry K. Hunter, Professor of Art at South Carolina State University: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board commends Representative <br />Gilda Cobb -Hunter for her many accomplishments and her dedication to the welfare and betterment of less <br />fortunate people in this country. <br />The Board encourages people of this community to attend the Thomas -Powell Memorial Scholarship <br />Banquet at the Dodger Pines Country Club at 6:30 p.m. on April 25, 1998 to hear Representative Gilda <br />Cobb -Hunter speak. <br />Adopted this 22 day of April, 1998. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously commended <br />Representative Gilda Cobb -Hunter for her many <br />accomplishments and her dedication to the welfare and <br />betterment of less fortunate people in this country. <br />April 28,1998 <br />.19 <br />
