b0 K F;i,`;� i)cy <br />of this project. <br />Utilities Department Director Don Hubbs advised that since the bids were opened on <br />April 15'. they tried to state in the agenda item some strategies which emerged from the <br />post -bid experience. Those strategies are included in the Memorandum above. The intent <br />is to make sure there is a competitive bid. In the pre-bid conference, there was a sense that <br />there would be some elements or factors in the proposed construction that would be pricey, <br />so it was not a big surprise that the bids came in high. He was confident it was a good design <br />and that the next set of bids would be more in keeping with the budgeted amount. Because <br />they were clustered closely, it meant that the construction documents.were clear and that the <br />contractors knew what they were bidding on. <br />Commissioner Adams inquired the cost of the rebid if it were done in-house, and <br />Director Hubbs responded that would be an engineer -of -record's function. He would not <br />recommend trying to do it in-house. <br />Commissioner Ginn liked the strategies that were developed and thought they should <br />result in cost savings. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />AMENDMENT NO.2 TO WORK AUTHORIZATION <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />11.H.3.
