a <br />• <br />SUBJECT: WASTEWATER PLANT - NORTH COUNTY INTERCONNECTION <br />ENGINEER'S FINAL PAY REQUEST, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />PROJECT NO. US -95 -24 -DC <br />On February 13, 1996, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners approved the <br />construction of a wastewater interconnect from the North County Wastewater Treatment Facility <br />to the Central Region Wastewater Treatment Facility, in order to divert flow and postpone <br />expansion of the North County WWTF. (See attached agenda item and minutes) The <br />Commission also approved a lump sum contract for associated engineering services with Carter <br />Associates, Inc. (See attached contract) <br />Final project payment to the Contractor for construction of the project went to the Board and was <br />approved on February 10, 1998. Please reference the attached agenda item and minutes attached. <br />The Contract with Carter Associates, Inc., was in the amount of $79,215.00, with a contingency <br />of $7,500.00 to be utilized only by written approval by the County. Unauthorized additional <br />engineering services in the amount of $1,508.45 were disallowed as part of the negotiated final <br />payment. (See attached February 24m and April 291', 1998 letters) The negotiated total utilized <br />from additional services is $2,415.45. The final payment to Carter Associates, Inc., in the <br />amount of $3,174.45 is attached. Funding for this project is from account no. 475-000-169- <br />282.00. <br />Options: <br />1. Reimburse Carter Associates in full for all expenses incurred in the amount of <br />$4,682.90. <br />2. Authorize final payment of $3,174.45, as recommended. <br />RECQMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends Option 2, Authorize final payment of <br />$3,174.45, and that the Board of County Commissioners approve and execute the final pay <br />request with Carter Associates, Inc., as presented. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously authorized final <br />payment of $3,174.45 and authorized the Chairman to execute <br />the final pay request with Carter Associates, Inc., as <br />recommended in the Memorandum. <br />May 12,1998 <br />PAY REQUEST IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />W11 <br />
