E., �� <br />Capital Projects ManageLL <br />SUBJECT: 58' Avenue Improvements <br />Change Order No. 1 <br />DATE: July 28, 1998 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />A u c) & D i 1-- C-- — ;'- <br />The Contractor for the 5e Avenue Improvements, Dickerson Florida Inc. has encountered <br />numerous utility conflicts within the right-of-way. Kings Highway was closed to traffic <br />south of SR 60 on July 20h, 1998 and will remain closed until, August 22, 1998 to facilitate <br />installation of storm drainage and resolution of conflicts. <br />Resolution of utility conflicts south of SR 60 is currently estimated to cost $45,000.00. A <br />detailed change order will be brought to the Board for approval on August 18, 1998. Staff <br />is still negotiating various options with the Contractor in an effort to minimize costs. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />In order to keep the project on schedule and avoid claims for lost time, staff recommends <br />that the following actions be taken: <br />1. Authorize staff to proceed with determining methods and details of resolving utility <br />conflicts as they are encountered. <br />2. Authorize staff to negotiate cost of conflict resolutions. <br />3. Authorize Public Works Director and Utility's Director to authorize Contractor to <br />proceed with work based on a total not -to -exceed amount of $60,000.00 for <br />resolution of utility conflicts south of SR 60. <br />The current contract amount for Kings Highway Improvements is $5,977,966.93. Funding <br />is from account 109-214-541-067.31. <br />July 28, 1998 <br />
