If the Board approves the transmittal <br />of this application to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) in Tallahassee for their <br />60 -day review, a second and final public hearing will be scheduled to consider any <br />comments made by the DCA and whether to adopt an ordinance amending the <br />Comprehensive Plan by redesignating the land use. As required by state <br />law, all development activities must be consistent with the comprehensive plan, and all county <br />activities must conform to plan policies. Occasionally, the pian must be updated to reflect the latest <br />and best available information and to address changed conditions. Additionally, the plan must <br />periodically be reviewed and revised in order to reflect the community's changing needs and desires. <br />For those reasons, the county has initiated this amendment <br />The recently completed Evaluation and Appraisal process resulted in major revisions to the text of <br />the comprehensive plan. Nevertheless, after reviewing the plan, staff determined that the Future <br />Land Use and the Intergovernmental Coordination Elements need to be revised at this time. <br />The proposed additions and deletions to the plan are shown on Attachment 2. In this attachment, <br />deletions are strnckont, while additions are un_dedined. <br />On October 8, 1998, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7 to 0 to recommend that the Board <br />of County Commissioners approve these proposed comprehensive plan text amendments. The_ <br />following proposed changes were not reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission: <br />• the proposed changes to Future Land Use Element Policy 1.12; <br />• the proposed changes to Future Land Use Element Policy 1.14; <br />• the proposed changes to Future Land Use Element Policy 1.28; and <br />• the proposed changes to Future Land Use Element Policy 1.29. <br />November 10, 1998 <br />40 <br />
