Cox, P.E., Civilngineer Qc- <br />SUBJECT: Request for Floodplain Cut and Fill Balance Waiver for Lot 5, Block 16, Vero <br />Lake Estates, Unit 3 <br />REFERENCE: Project No. 98100042 <br />DATE: November 6, 1998 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />MGB Construction, Inc. has submitted a building permit application for a single family residence on <br />the subject property. The site is looted in an AE special flood hazard zone, base flood elevation 22.3 <br />1 N.G.V.D. In the attached letter from the applicant's engineer dated November 4, 1998, a waiver <br />of the cut and fill balance requirement is requested. The lot area is 1.08 acres. The volume of the <br />100 year floodplain displaced by the proposed grading plan is estimated to be 1,150 cubic yards. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The waiver request has been reviewed by staff and appears to meet the criteria of Section <br />930.07(2)(d)4. of the Stormwater Management and Flood Protection Ordinance for lots located in <br />the Vero Lake Estates Municipal Services Taxing Unit. <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Grant the cut and fill balance waiver based on the criteria of Section 930.07(2)(d)4. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny the cart and fill waiver. Require an on site retention area be provided to compensate for the <br />proposed floodplain displacement. <br />RECMATIONS <br />Staff recommends approval of Alternative No. 1. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br />unanimously granted the floodplain cut and fill <br />balance waiver for Lot 5, Block 16, Vero Lake <br />Estates, Unit 3, based on the criteria of Section <br />930.07(2)(d)4, as recommended by staff. <br />NOVEMBER 17, 1998 <br />-21- BOOK 107 <br />PAGE <br />
