11.B. CONSENT TO SUBLEASE - WINTER BEACH SITE <br />COMMUNICATIONS TOWER - BELLSOUTH MOBILITY. INC. AND <br />NEXTEL SOUTH CORPORATION <br />Administrator Chandler reviewed a Memorandum of December 10, 1998: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: James E. Chandler <br />County Administrator' <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: December 10, 1998 <br />SUBJECT: Indian River County Conseatto a Site Sublease Agreement Between BellSouth Mobility <br />Inc., and Nextel South Corporation - winter Beach Site <br />On October W, 1990, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners entered into a Lease <br />Agreement with BellSouth Mobility, Inc., for ground space at 3955 651h Street, Vero Beach, Florida, <br />for BellSouth to construct a communications tower and building to house communications equipment. <br />Section 17 of the referenced Agreement provides that the lease may not be sold, subleased, assigned, <br />or transferred without the written consent of the County. BellSouth has submitted a Site Sublease for <br />the County's review and consent wherein Nextel South Corporation plans to co -locate on the BellSouth <br />Tower and place associated equipment within the existing BellSouth fenced enclosure ground space <br />site. <br />Consistent with past practices, staffhas negotiated a benefit for the County wherein a one time payment <br />of $10,000 will be paid to the County by Nextel South Corporation and BellSouth will pay $666.67 <br />monthly rental payments ( $8,000.04 annually) to the County for the County's consent to use the ground <br />space. The monthly rent will be increased on the first day of each renewal term under the above <br />referenced Site Sublease by an amount equal to twenty (20) percent of the rent for the previous term. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />-*. <br />Staff recommends the Board approve and consent to the Site Sublease Agreement between BellSouth <br />Mobility Inc., and Nextel South Corporation and authorize the Chairman to execute the necessary <br />documents. <br />ATTACHI UNT: <br />Proposed Site Sublease documents <br />ON MOTION by Chairman Tippin, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously approved and <br />consented to the Site Sublease Agreement between BellSouth <br />Mobility Inc. and Nextel South Corporation and authorized the <br />Chairman to execute the necessary documents, as recommended <br />in the Memorandum. <br />DECEMBER 22, 1998 <br />OWNER'S CONSENT IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />47 <br />b®GK i0l PAGE 2.3, <br />
