Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />THRU: James W. Davis, P.E. DATE: February 3, 1999 <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Christopher R. Mora, P.E. C1 <br />County Traffic Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) with the Florida <br />Department of Transportation (FDOT) for: <br />Internally -Illuminated Street Name Signs <br />asnessanasaaananaasaannoaaaaanaasanaasaaassaaaansaanaaaaaaaaaaans <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The FDOT has prepared a- joint participation agreement (JPA), <br />between the FDOT and Indian River County, to allow the County to <br />undertake the maintenance and operation of internally -illuminated <br />street name signs installed on traffic signals on State Highways <br />within the County. The JPA provides for the following: <br />1. The FDOT shall fund the project's estimated $10,000 annual <br />cost, for a period of five years ($50,000 total). <br />2. The County shall maintain and operate the internally - <br />illuminated street name signs. If the project cost exceeds <br />$10,000 annually, the County shall pay the overage. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The attached JPA is a standard agreement similar to many agreements <br />the County has executed in the past. The alternatives are as <br />follows: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Approve the JPA and authorize the BCC Chairman's signature. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny approval of the JPA and cancel the project. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1 - approval of the JPA. There is <br />no funding impact generated by this project. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Stanbridge, the Board <br />unanimously adopted Resolution 99-015 authorizing <br />a Joint Participation for Internally -Illuminated Sheet <br />Name Signs. <br />AGREEMENT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />FEBRUARY 16, 1999 <br />-63- BOOK 103 PACE • 97 <br />
