Proclamation Observing May 1, 1999 as Law DaX <br />Chairman Macht read the following and presented it to attorney Susan Calestri who <br />thanked the Board. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, May 1 is LAW DAY in the United States of <br />America, and the theme this year of Law Week is to "Celebrate <br />Your Freedom: Equal Rights Under the Law"; and <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America has been the <br />citadel of individual liberty and a beacon of hope and <br />opportunity for more than 200 years to many millions who <br />have sought our shores and relied upon our justice system; and <br />WHEREAS, the foundation of individual freedom and liberty <br />is the body of law that governs us; and <br />WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of <br />America and the Bill of Rights are the heart of that body of <br />law, which guarantees us many freedoms including freedom of <br />religious belief, freedom to have and to hold property <br />inviolate, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, freedom <br />of press, freedom of petition, and due process of law among <br />others; and <br />WHEREAS, this year marks the 42nd annual nationwide <br />observance of LAW DAY, and the Congress of the United States <br />and the President, by official proclamation have set aside May <br />1 as a special day for recognition of the place of law in <br />American life; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that May 1, 1999 be observed as <br />EF`.LX4 <br />in Indian River County, and the Board calls upon all citizens, <br />schools, businesses, clubs, and the news media to commemorate <br />the role of law in our lives. <br />Adopted this 27 day of April, 1999. <br />APRIL 27, 1999 <br />4 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />nmTAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />eth zRi-IN'., airman <br />_I <br />
