Due to the following: 1) <br />the size of the pipe (2-48" concrete pipes side-by-side);_2_j: the <br />existence of a 24" water main crowing the pipe, 3) the need to <br />replace the pipes this week, and 4) scheduled projects that the <br />Road and Bridge Division is performing, staff requested a price <br />from Felix Equities to perform the labor to do the replacement. <br />Originally, Felix requested $22,000 to replace the pipes. Staff <br />has negotiated the price down to $15,000. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Due to the fact that the Contractor is already mobilized to widen <br />the road, the alternatives are as follows: <br />Alternatives No.l <br />Issue a purchase order to Felix Equities in the amount of <br />$15,000 to replace the pipe. Funding will be from <br />budgeted funds in the Road and Bridge Division <br />Transportation Fund 111-214. <br />Alternatives No. 2 <br />Leave the existing deteriorated pipe beneath the new <br />widened pavement. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1 whereby an emergency purchase <br />order is issued to Felix Equities for $15,000 to replace the pipe. <br />Funding from Fund 111-214. <br />RECEIVED <br />JUL 12 1999 <br />CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously approved <br />Alternative No. 1 to issue an emergency purchase order to Felix <br />Equities, Inc., for $15,000 to replace the drainage pipe as <br />described, as recommended in the Memorandum. <br />July 13, 1999 <br />75 <br />BOOK PAGE 0 <br />
