Butterworth, Attorney General <br />State of Florida <br />Office of the Attorney General <br />Department of Legal Affairs <br />The Capitol <br />Tallahassee, FL 32399-1050 <br />RE: LETTER OF AGREEMENT — CRIME STOPPERS TRUST FUND GRANTS <br />Dear Mr. Butterworth: <br />This Letter of Agreement from the Board of County Commissioners in Indian River County <br />authorizes Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers, Inc., to act as Indian River County's agent for the <br />purpose of applying for and receiving moneys from the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund. This request <br />was made per requirements in Subsection 16.555 (5)(b) of the Florida Statutes (1998 Supp.). <br />Chairman Kenneth R. Macht Date <br />Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />clk <br />County Attorney Vitunac explained briefly that the State of Florida requires that the <br />Commissioners choose one agency to act as its recipient of grant funds for Crime Stopper <br />activities. He advised that two individuals were present to give the Board a presentation <br />about the program. <br />Lt. Stan Carbone, St. Lucie Sheriff's Office, advised that he is the Project Director <br />of the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers (four counties). He explained how the program <br />works, how the anonymity of the informant is protected, and that it is grant -funded through <br />fees collected from individuals who are arrested (seventeen dollars of every $20 fee goes <br />November 2, 1999 <br />28 <br />
