BOOK M FtvUE ,9 <br />They are proposing less than 24 acres at a cost to the County of less than $10,000 in total tax <br />revenue. The -owners have expressed a desire to work with the students. They also have <br />appraisers who have donated their services to determine the market value of the lots. <br />Commissioner Adams questioned the time schedule, and Ms. Swanson stated that the <br />students hope to contribute 18 lots in one year as a gift during the year 2000. Those would <br />be the original 18 lots contiguous to the school. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge stated that everyone should take the tour, especially with <br />the children. <br />Mr. DeBlois noted that Fish & Wildlife Service has 75% matching fund grants for this <br />type of project which will supplement and compliment the County's Habitat Conservation <br />Plan. <br />Chairman Macht assured the students they would have 100% participation and <br />monetary contributions. <br />Ms. Swanson commented that they really need help with land management to make <br />sure the property is maintained. The bulldozers are ready as soon as the project is approved <br />and the hope is to try to complete these 18 lots within one year. <br />Chairman Macht stated that the County is in the process of hiring a conservation <br />specialist who could also be made available to assist in the project He believed the project <br />would succeed and commented that everywhere Ms. Swanson goes, good things happen.
