The Grant Application will be for $100,000 to develop the comprehensive wildfire mitigation plan <br />and will include in part competing tasks such as delineation of the wildland urban interface areas, <br />a detailed vulnerability assessment of key hazards, vegetative fuel hazards, and fire occurrence <br />history organized and integrated into a Geographic Information System. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Board execute the attached Resolution authorizing Douglas M. Wright to <br />endorse and submit the EWA Competitive Grant application for the above referenced wildfire <br />mitigation plan. Evidence of the delegation of authority will be supplied with the application which <br />must be submitted prior to the Board meeting scheduled in December.. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Giem, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Stanbridge, the Board <br />unanimously adopted Resolution 99-126 authorizing <br />the Emergency Services Director to endorse an <br />Emergency Management Preparedness and <br />Assistance (EWA) Competitive Grant Application <br />for the Preparation of a Wildfire Mitigation Plan. <br />RESOLUTION NO.99-12 5 <br />A Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />Authorizing the Emergency Services Director to Endorse an Emergency Management <br />Preparedness and Assistance (EWA) Competitive Grant Application for the <br />Preparation of a Wildfire Mitigation Plan. <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Community Affairs administers the Emergency <br />Management Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA) Competitive Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, The Department is soliciting proposals from interested state or regional agencies, <br />local governments, and private non-profit organizations; and <br />WiIEREAS, the purpose of the funds is to support projects that will further state and local <br />emergency management objectives. _ <br />WHEREAS, there are $3,475,030 funds available for this application cycle with a submission <br />deadline for all applicants of Tuesday, November 30, 1999. <br />NOVEMBER 16, 1999 <br />-119- BOOK i1i rAGF A100 <br />
