RESOLUTION NO. 2000- mi <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, SUPPORTING NASA AND THE STATE <br />OF FLORIDA'S PARTNERSHIP TO FINANCE, <br />DEVELOP AND OPERATE THE PROPOSED <br />SPACE EXPERIMENT RESEARCH AND <br />PROCESSING LABORATORY (SERPL) AT <br />KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA. <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />recognizes the tremendous impact that the Nation's space program has on <br />Indian River County's economy as well as that of the Central Florida Region, and <br />the State of Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />recognizes the dynamics of the space industry is changing on both the national <br />and international levels; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners fully <br />supports the expansion of space related activities in the State of Florida to be <br />much more than launching space vehicles into space; and <br />WHEREAS, the expansion of the local space industry with respect to <br />research, development and education is highly desirable to the development of <br />the State's economy; and <br />WHEREAS, the International Space Station (ISS) starts a new era of a <br />space exploration and scientific research which provides a significant opportunity <br />for the State of Florida to capture both commercial and academic ventures; and <br />3=RESO (LEGAL)WGGnhm <br />March 21, 2000- <br />51 <br />.aA <br />� qq <br />EOcK <br />• <br />
