Community Development Director Robert M. Keating reviewed the memorandum <br />using the graphic (figure 1) to illustrate the location and his remarks. He responded to Vice <br />Chairman Ginn's inquiry concerning the differences between the setbacks for RM -6 versus <br />UM <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to be heard in <br />this matter. <br />Bruce Barkett, attorney for the applicant, advised that the project had been <br />coordinated with staff since its inception and that he and Jerry Swanson were present to <br />respond to any questions. <br />house. <br />Rene' Renzi, 340 Waverly Place, Vero Beach, inquired who the "group home" would <br />Vice Chairman Ginn explained that this request was being made by Sun Up which <br />is a group of emotionally or developmentally challenged adults whose families are working <br />towards establishing a home for them. She felt they were doing a fine job, there was a need, <br />and this should be supported. <br />Commissioner Tippin knew of situations where many of these handicapped adults' <br />parents were aging and the parents wanted to know that their children would be cared for <br />after they were no longer able to care for them personally. <br />It was determined that no one else wished to be heard and the Chairman closed the <br />public hearing. <br />April 11, 2000 <br />37 <br />BOOK 'M PAGE 4 <br />
