Skok, Qss_ <br />Civil Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Local Agency Agreement for the Gifford Bikepath <br />DATE: March 30, 2000 <br />Staff is following guidelines for the Comprehensive Bike and <br />Sidewalk Plan in which constructing an eight foot (81) wide <br />concrete bikepath along US 1 from 37th Street north to 45`h Street <br />is planned. This project would connect bicycle and pedestrian <br />access from the Gifford Community to the Medical District and <br />Downtown Vero Beach Business District <br />Indian River County has adopted a Comprehensive Bikeway and <br />Sidewalk Plan, which identifies roadways where bicycle and sidewalk <br />facilities should be provided within the County. The Gifford <br />Bikepath is on the list of priority projects in the Comprehensive <br />Plan. In 1997, this project was submitted to the Florida <br />Department of Transportation (FDOT) along with seven others. After <br />FDOT District IV staff review, all projects were found to be <br />eligible for enhancement funding. The FDOT has set up a Local <br />Agency Project (LAP) Agreement in which the Agency (Indian River <br />County) agrees to design and construct an FDOT approved project, <br />and the FDOT agrees to reimburse the Agency after its completion. <br />April 11, 2000 <br />52 <br />0 0 <br />
