Frame, General Services Director �tkurc� <br />Subject: Revised Agreement with Edlund & Dritenbas Architects, P.A. for Design and <br />Constructions Services for an Addition to the North County Library located <br />in Sebastian on C.R. 512 <br />EXHIBIT: Revised Negotiated Architectural Agreement <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In January of this year. the Board approved an agreement with the architectural firm of Edlund. Dritenbas <br />for the design of the remodeling and expansion of the North County Library. That agreement was for a <br />project that had an estimated construction cost of $789,921.00. Based on program planning and <br />schematic design, the project changed significantly in cost estimates based on needs identified. <br />On May 23. the Board accepted staffs recommendation to proceed basically with a plan that included an <br />expansion to the meeting room. an expanded reading room. major site work and several building upgrades <br />bringing the project to a total project cost of $1,674,397.00 and an estimated construction cost of <br />$1.354.232.00. Based on the revised cost projections. The architectural firm has revised the fee structure <br />accordingly In addition. the total architectural fees are a lump sum including civil engineering that had <br />been a separate item in the existing agreement. <br />The only cost for which the County (owner) is responsible is for the application and permitting fees and <br />the geotechnical services. <br />The new fee is $137.676. which is 8.9% of construction budget ($1.354.236) plus the cost of the civil <br />engineering fee of $17. 149 <br />For the Board's convenience. the entire revised contract is included. but the only changes are those pages <br />initialed by Paul Dritenbas dated 24 May 2000 (pages 1-1, 1-2, 1-11.2-11). The changes are enumerated <br />as follows: <br />• Page 1-1 This merely an initial for the entire document since it contains revisions. <br />• Page 1-2 This revises Section 1.1.2.5 providing for a revised construction budget. <br />• Page 1-11 This revises Section 1.5.1 providing for a revised compensation fee <br />• Page 2-11 This revises Section 2.8.3 providing for a revised schedule of services. <br />RECONIENDATION: <br />Staff submits that the proposed revised architectural agreement with Edlund & Dntenbas. P A. is fair and <br />reasonable and recommends Board approval. and that the Chairman be authorized to initial and date the <br />four revised pages (pages 1-1. 1-2. 1-11,2-11). <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED <br />BY Commissioner Tippet, to approve stars recommendation. <br />June 20, 2000 <br />92 <br />I <br />
