Keating, AICP r <br />Community Development D ctor <br />FROM: Stan Boling, AICP <br />Planning Director <br />DATE: July 6, 2000 <br />SUBJECT: Formal LDR Amendment for CR 510 East Corridor Special Regulations <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at its regular meeting of July 18, 2000. <br />BACKGROUND• <br />At its April 4, 2000 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners directed staff to initiate an LDR <br />amendment to add special regulations to the portion of the Wabasso Corridor that adjoins CR 510 <br />east of US #1 (see attachment #1). The Board's direction was based on its review of conceptual <br />additional regulations. Specific wording for the special regulations has now been incorporated into <br />a formal LDR amendment proposal (see attachment #2). In addition, the Board considered a <br />suggestion to establish a north barrier island task force to cover the CR 510 east corridor and <br />SR A-1 -A north of Indian River Shores, and indicated that this issue would be addressed when the <br />formal LDR amendment is considered. <br />PSAC and PZC Consideration <br />The PSAC, Wabasso Task Force, and CR 510 East Corridor Committee considered the proposed <br />amendment at a May 18, 2000 special joint meeting. Although there was no quorum present, there <br />was a joint consensus to recommend that the Board of County Commissioners adopt the proposed <br />amendment with some modifications (see attachment #7). At the May 18t° meeting, PSAC members <br />suggested that the proposed regulations on project entry features be modified to allow guardhouse <br />structures similar to Orchid's existing beachside entrance.
