Keating, AIC <br />Community Development Direc r <br />%.6 <br />FROM: Stan Boling, AICP <br />Planning Director <br />DATE: August 15, 2000 <br />SUBJECT: LDR Amendment Follow-up Hearing: Free-standing Signs Near I-95 in the SR <br />60 Corridor <br />It is requested the data herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at its regular meeting on August 22, 2000. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />At its July 18, 2000 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners considered 5 land development <br />regulation (LDR) amendment ordinances that address various topics, and granted final approval and <br />adoption of 4 LDR ordinances. However, final action was not taken on the ordinance regarding free- <br />standing signs near I-95 in the SR 60 corridor. Rather, the Board voted 4-1 to approve as an interim <br />measure (pending ordinance) one of the three alternative free-standing sign ordinances discussed at <br />the July 18' meeting and directed staff to draft specific landscaping requirements for areas around <br />the sign and sign pole bases of taller free-standing signs (see attachment #1). <br />Staff has now drafted such specifications, prepared two alternative ordinances, and has advertized <br />and scheduled a public hearing for final action at the Board's August 22, 2000 meeting. The Board <br />is now to consider the revised, alternative ordinances and is to adopt one of the alternatives with or <br />without modification. <br />AUGUST 22, 2000 <br />-54- <br />
