Driver vs. Indian River County - Order to Mediate - <br />Appointment ofCommuni, DevelopmentDirectorRobertKeatingas <br />County's Negotiator <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of September 18, 2000: <br />TO: The Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: William G. Collins II — Deputy CoLnty Attorney <br />DATE: September 18, 2000 <br />SUBJECT: Driver vs Indian River County, Order to Mediate <br />The presiding judge in the above -styled case has ordered the parties to <br />mediation. Under mediation rules, the Board should appoint a representative <br />with full authority to negotiate on behalf of the Board and to recommend <br />settlement to the Board. Since the matters at issue in this case involve setbacks, <br />building permits, fence permits, etc., I feel the appropriate representative would <br />be Community Development Director Robert Keating. At present, mediation is <br />scheduled for October 10th. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />r_ <br />Appoint Robert Keating as the representative of the Board of County <br />Commissioners with full authority to negotiate on behalf of the Board and to <br />recommend settlement possibilities to the Board. <br />October 3, 2000 - <br />X <br />48 <br />
