with existing local businesses that are planning to expand or with new businesses considering <br />relocation to the county. The Board also authorized staff to initiate the process to select a consultant <br />to prepare a CDBG application and administer the grant, if awarded. <br />On October 3, 2000, the Board of County Commissioners approved the county's CDBG consultant <br />selection committee's consultant selection prioritization list and authorized staff to begin contract <br />negotiations with the number one ranked firm, Berryman and Heniger, Inc. <br />Since then, staff has successfully negotiated a contract for planning application and administration <br />services with the top-ranked firm, Berryman and Heniger, Inc.. The proposed contract is attached <br />to this staff report (Attachment 1). If the grant is awarded to the county, Berryman and Heniger, Inc. <br />will receive 7.5% of the grant fimds for administration services. The grant application will be <br />prepared by Berryman and Heniger, Inc. at no charge to the county. <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners: <br />approve the proposed contract between the Board of County Commissioners and Berryman <br />and Heniger, Inc. for the preparation of an Economic Development CDBG application and <br />administration of that grant if awarded, and <br />authorize the Board of County Commissioners' Chairman to execute the contract upon <br />approval. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br />unanimously approved the contract with Berryman <br />and Heniger, Inc. for the preparation of an Economic <br />Development CDBG application and administration <br />of that grant, if awarded, and authorized the <br />Chairman to execute the contract, as recommended <br />by staff. <br />CONTRACT WILL BE ON FILE IN <br />THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />WHEN EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />OCTOBER 10, 2000 BK 1 1 5 PG 422 <br />-25- <br />
