a <br />WEDNESDAYt SEPTEMBER 30th 1936 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court <br />House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Wednesday, September 30th 19369 with the <br />following members of the Board present: J.J.P.Hamilton, Chairman; E. P. Poole and Edwin A. <br />Helseth. Absent Frank C Vickers and R.E.Mudge. <br />The Chairman announced the special meeting was called for the purpose of considering <br />resolutions necessary to be adopted at the request of the State Board of Social Welfare <br />relative to old age assistance to be given in this State. <br />The following resolution was introduced and unanimously adopted: <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />AREAS., A,State plan of old age assistane is about to be placed in operation in <br />Florida under the administration of the State Board of Social Welfare, and <br />AREAS, It is required of each Board of County Commissioners in the State as a <br />condition precedent to the State plan becoming effective, that a resolution.be passed <br />waiving the authority of the Board to enforce against the estates of deceased persons <br />who have been supported at public expense claims to the extent of the public assistance <br />given them through the State Board of Social Welfare, and <br />WHEREAS, It is desirable that the State plan be placed in operation as expeditiously <br />as possible so that the Federal Government will begin its contributions and thereby <br />make available additional money in each County in the State for old age assistance, <br />NOW's THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River <br />County, Florida, in session duly assembled, that the Board does hereby waive its <br />authority to enforce against the estates of deceased persons who have been supported <br />at public expense by old age assistance administered through the State Board of Social <br />Welfare claims to the extent of the public assistance furnished by the State Board to <br />such persons. <br />R E S 0 L U T I 0 N <br />REAS, on the 7th day of July A. D. 1936, this Board passed a resolution that it <br />would include in its current budget an item sufficient to permit the County to partici- <br />pate under certain conditions in an Old Age Assistance Plan to be adminintered by the <br />State Board of Social Welfare, and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the above mentioned resolution an item was included in the <br />current budget for the care of the indigent of the County and a sufficient amount of <br />this item is now available for use in participating in the Old Age Assistance Plan <br />being administered by the State Board of Social Welfare, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, in session duly assembled, as follows: <br />1. That the sum of $ 630000 be and the same is hereby made immediately available <br />as this county's share in participating for the period of three months from October lst, <br />1936 to December 31, 1936, in the Old Age Assistance Plan being administered by the <br />State Board of Social Welfare for the indigent aged, upon the following terms and <br />conditions, to -wit: <br />(a) That the money will be spent by that Board during the quarter begining October <br />first and ending December 31, 1936, only if and when the money is matched by an equal <br />amount of Federal funds; <br />(b) The money shall be spent only in this County and in no other County of the State; <br />
