Mr. Walter S. Buckingham appeared before the Board and suggested that $500.00 be <br />appropriated and earmarked outof the 1937 - 38 budget for the purpose of advertising Indian <br />River County and also as a publicity*account to be used when as and if necessary. It was <br />moved by Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Heiseth and carried that: <br />The budget of this Board for the,fiscal year 1937-1938 be and it is amended in that <br />$500.00 of the item ofe$1800.00 under "Incidentals" provided in said Budget under the "Genera] <br />Revenue Fund" be4and it isappropriated to publicity and/or advertising Indian River County. <br />Mr. A. Foster, Sebastian, Florida.appeared before the Board and requested that his <br />son .;B. Foster be admitted to the Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Orlando, Florida. -On motion <br />made by`Edwin-A.'Helseth, seconded by S. E. Glover and carried the request was granted. <br />Mr. J. E. Montgomery appeared before the Board and requested that the road on the <br />north Gifford Road be filled in and that abridge on said road be repaired in order that he <br />might have access to his property. This request was granted and Frank A. Knight, Road Super- <br />indentent was instructed to proceed with this work. <br />It was moved by,Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Helseth and carried <br />that: <br />The. budget of this Board for the fiscal- year 1937-1938 be and it is amended in that <br />$1296.00 of the item of $2500.00 under "Contingencies" provided in said Budget under the <br />"General Revenue Fund" be and is appropriated for a County Nurse in Indian River County. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Glover and carried <br />that: <br />,..The budget of this Board for the fiscal year 1937-1938 be and it is amended in that <br />$250.00 of the item of $2500.00 under "Contingencies* provided in said Budget under the <br />J <br />"General Revenue Fund" be and is appropriated to the Women Sewing Department of the W. P. A. <br />(see minutes July 6th.) <br />Mr. George A. James appeared before the Board and requested that he be appointed <br />County Engineer. He explained that the County would have a better chance of getting W. F. A. <br />projects approved along with other advantages by having an Engineer. On motion made by S. E. <br />Glover, seconded by Edwin A. Helseth and carried George A. Jameswas appointed County Engine <br />without salary, compensation or expenses. <br />It was ordered that a warrant be drawn on the General Revenue Fund for the sum of <br />$7.80 and made <br />to the <br />order of <br />E. F..Poole <br />to reimburse <br />him for <br />funds advanced for the purpo <br />of sending two <br />boys.to <br />Orlando, <br />with <br />reference_to C. C. <br />C. Camp <br />and for bus fare from Fero <br />Beach to Clearwater for: Ruby Johns ($3.70) . <br />Frank A.- Knight, Road Superintendent was instructed to repair two bridges near <br />the west end of Welker Ave. <br />The following bids and/or estimates were submitted for furnishing and installing <br />a service- sink in Janitors Room as follows to -wit: <br />Herbert J. Paulsen (flat rim sink without back) $ 49.10 <br />Herbert U. -,:Paulsen (22"x18" roll rim sink with back) 68.10 <br />J. G. Ambrose (22"x18" Crane Company sink plate ##21360) 89.50 <br />It was moved by S. E. Glover, seconded by Edwin A. Helseth and carried that the bid of Herbert <br />J. Paulsen for the sum of $49.10 be accepted. <br />On motion made by S,. E. Glover, seconded by Edwin A. Helseth and carried the pro- <br />posal by Conrad Lumber Mills, Inca to furnish and deliver to the County Barn a good grade of <br />Heart Lumber at the price of $32.50 per''thousand was accepted. <br />The Chairman announced that this regular meeting was held, among other things, for <br />the purpose of considering and acting upon and adopting the estimates of the expenses for the <br />fiscal year comneficing October 1st, 1937 and ending September 30th 1938, which were prepared <br />and entered upon the minutes of the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held on the <br />1 <br />L <br />1 <br />
