The following Road petition was received and read: ROAD PETITION STATE OF FLORIDA ) COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of said County: Gentlemen: We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at The south city limits of Vero Beach, Fla. thence running Southerly along the ocean beach to the South line of Indian River County. Said road right-of-way to be not less than eighty feet in width. We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of One dollar to us each and sever ally in hand paid by the said County of Indian River the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims for damage by reason thereof. It was ordered that the petition be filed and D. L. Leisher,W. J. Maher and Albert 0. Helseth be appointed viewers to view mark mid and lay out the road and report to this Board. It was ordered that the Chairman and the County .engineer be authorized to purchase a site for tool house and etc. for the best available price not to exceed 000.00 per acre. The following with respect to Culverts was adopted: 1. That all flumes, culverts, wood boxes, etc., now in existence, crossing under an of the roads to be paved under the Special Road and Bridge District #4 bond issue of July 1, 1925, shall be replaced or permanent culverts oropipes of terra cotta, cast iron, galvanized iron (of an approved gage), or other permanent and durable material. 2. That these culverts shall be installed by the property owner maintaining the drainage ditches served thereby. This work shall be done well in advance of any grading on the section of the road affected. The work of installing these culverts shall be don under the direction and in accordance with plans prepared by the County Engineer. 3. That the County Engineer be instructed to maintain at the County garage a supple of the sizes and types needed for sale to the property owners desiring the same for use under this resolution at cost plus an allowance for overhead. 4. That on all ditches, culverts not meeting with the requirements of this resolu- tion at such time as the work of construction shall require, the County shall proceed to remove the existing culvert and close the ditch. it was ordered that the County Engineer be instructed to open up Clemmons Ave,Road from 'Barber Ave. to South Gifford road, to -wit: That part of said road lying beyond the limits of the City of Vero Beach. The Board agreed to defray the expenses of removing an aged blined lady from this County to her people at Ocala and pay the expenses of some person to accompany her to th:t point. The Clerk was instructed to write the Board of County Commissioners of St.Lucie County #tet and ascertain whether or not the County has deed to Right-of-way for public road inthe Ercildourne property in the Northern part of the County.
