<br />WHEREAS, the Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the various Counties of,the State of
<br />Florida, acting as agents for the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund have sold for cash
<br />and forwarded to the said Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund the funds so derived from
<br />the sale of said lands, and
<br />WHEREAS, the outstanding tag sales certificates, which caused the said lands to re-
<br />vert to the State of Florida, represented tax liens made for State, County, and School purposes;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, less than ten percent (10%) of said funds would equal the State's portion
<br />and'that over -ninety percent (90%) would equal the portion due the County and Schools of the
<br />various Counties, and
<br />WHEREAS, monies received by the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS and the BOARD OF PUBLIC
<br />IPSTRUCTION service the public needs of the entire Counties.
<br />BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County inj
<br />session at Vero Beach,Florida respectfully requested that the Trustees of the Internal Improve-
<br />ment Fund, the Senate and -..the House of Representatives, at the next,session of the Florida
<br />Legislature, being held in 1941, pass an act providing for the distribution of the above mentioi
<br />-ed funds derived from the various Counties, as follows:
<br />Forty-five percent (45%)to the General Fund of the BOARD OF COUNTY CONJISSIONERS, and
<br />Forty-five percent (45f) to the General Fund of the BOARD OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION, of the Countie
<br />from which said amounts were received, and the remaining ten percent (10%) to be placed in the
<br />General Fund of the State of Florida.
<br />BE IT FU F HER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this Resolution be furnished to the
<br />Trustees of the -Internal Improvement Fund of the Stetedf Florida, and tb--the proper committees
<br />of the Senate and House of ilepresentatives at the 1941 session of the Florida Legislature.
<br />The Resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Vickers and upon being put to a
<br />vote same was unanimously adopted.
<br />Douglas Baker, Clerk was authorized to have certain changes and repairs and improve-
<br />ments in the .Clerk`s office with funds available for that purpose.
<br />E. E. Carter, Road Superintendent, reported in his opinion it would not be justifiabl
<br />to place a marl surface in Spruce Park at present but that it might be possible and advisable
<br />to do so some tiMe:"later during the Summer.
<br />L. F. Carter, Road Superintendant, was authorized to have prepared certain blue -print
<br />of plats in Clerk's office which would cost approximately $15.00 to $20.00.
<br />The Board proceeded to and did name and select the following persons as,'Inspectors
<br />and Clerk of election of the various precincts to hold and conduct the primary election to be
<br />held Tuesday, May 7th., 1940, to -wit:
