all civic organizations as to their attitu&e_toward removal of the pine trees from <br />U. S. 1 highway. Action by these organizations was very slow in most oases, and after <br />waiting until now, we conclude that those not heard from are either non -committed., or <br />not interested. <br />The following reports were made.as "expressions of opinion": <br />Sebastian Woman* Club- Divided opinion <br />Rod & Gun Club - Favors removal <br />Vero Beach -Woman's Club= Executive Board opposes removal <br />Dr. Humiston, Pres. of Beautification Society- Opposes removal. <br />8iwanis Club- (Verbal report) Favors removal beyond city limits. <br />City Park Commission - favors removal. <br />County Planning Council - Favors removalbeyond city limits. <br />These reports together with such as may have come_to you through the American Legion <br />and other sources, will help you to determine your action in this matter. <br />Yours truly, <br />E. Glover <br />that Douglas Baker, Clerk be authorized to _write to the State Road Department requesting the <br />of <br />removal of the Pine Trees located on.the East & West shoulders/U.S. #1 Highway said trees to <br />be removed from the Nofth Vero Beach City limits to Webasso. The motion being duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Helseth it was carried by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Commissioners Glover, Helseth & Michael. <br />Kays: Vickers and Graves. <br />The Clerk was instructed to ascertain the Company ... next -,in -.line for gas and oil busi- <br />ness and so advise them agent. <br />The Clerk was authorized to execute a receipt to the W. P. A. West Palm Beach,Floride <br />accepting W.P.A. Project No. 4662 (Winter Beach Cemetery Project) as being completed and <br />ly turned over to -the Board of -.County Commissioners of Indian River County. <br />The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited were examined <br />and found correct, were:.approved and warrants ordered issued'in the settlement of same* Such <br />bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
