FEBRUARY 25TH, 1941. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at <br />Court House in Vero Beach, at 17:30 o*clock P. M. Tuesday, February 25th, 1941, in called <br />meeting with the following members of the Board present: C. S. Michael, Chairman, S. E. Glover, <br />W. C. Graves nd Albert 0. Helseth. Absent: Frank C. Vickers. Also presen / were County Enginee <br />E. E. Carter, Wm. W. Frick, Sheriff, Chas. A. Mitchell, Attorney for the. Board and Douglas <br />Baker, Clerk. <br />to -wit: <br />Commissioner S. E. Glover introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption <br />WHEREAS, by virtue of the extremely heavy traffic of every nature upon State Road No. <br />4 in Indian River County, Florida, it is necessary that said road be widened and improved in <br />order to care for such traffic; therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />that the State Road Department of Florida be and it is herewith requested to provide at the <br />earliest convenience of said department a survey over and upon the existing route of State Road <br />No. 4 as it traverses Indian River County for the purpose of determining type, nature'an d ex- <br />tent of improvements to said road to the end that it will reasonably serve the traffic thereon <br />and to ascertain the extent and location of any additional right-of-way that may be required <br />in order to make such necessary improvements to said State Road No. 4 as it now exists and as <br />it now traverses Indian River County, Florida. <br />The Resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner W. C. Graves, dr., and upon being <br />put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted. <br />to -wit: <br />RESOLUTION <br />Commissioner W. C. Graves introduced,,the following Resolution and moved its adoption <br />WHEREAS, State Road No. 30 is an important arterial highway having City of Vero Bea <br />in Indian River County as its eastern terminus and traversing the central part of the state to <br />the west coast and thereby providing a cross -state highway connecting the east andwest 00e8ts <br />of the state of Florida and traversing the central part of said state; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens and taxpayers of the territory traversdd'by said road in <br />Osceola and Indian River Counties, Florida, have heretofore expended the sum of One Million <br />($1,000,000.0"0) Dollars in the construction of said road and without any expense to the state <br />of Florida or the State Road Department of Florida by reason of such construction; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens and taxpayers of the portio:h of said road and connecting high- <br />ways which provide access from said road to the central and vastern portion of Florida have al <br />expended considerable sums of money in the construction of such highway; and <br />WHEREAS, said State Road 30 has for some years been a part.of the State Road system <br />and has been maintained by the State Road Department of Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, State Road 30 is continuously used by a large volume and variety of motor <br />vehicle traffic, including private cars�,of citizens and visitors, busses of Florida Motor <br />Lines and many commercial vehicles; that a very considerable use of said road is made by truck <br />
