<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon such area being made available, it be made available to
<br />purchase by negro citizens actually desiring to erect homes for themselves in such area -and 11
<br />that the Deeds of Conveyance thereof contained such restrictions as shall protect the use of
<br />such property and the health and well being of the residents thereof.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the area so provided be such as shall permit the residents
<br />thereof to be proud of their homesites and as shall give to them a building area which shall bei'.

<br />E. E. Carter, County Engineer, was authorized and instructed to prepare or have prepared
<br />a map or maps showing lands acquired on August 14, 1944 by the County under Chapter 22079, laws''
<br />of Florida.
<br />Hon. W. R. Duncan, Tax Assessor, appeared before the Board and requested additional time
<br />in which to turn over the o3iginal and copies of the 1944 Tax Assessment. Roll. The request was
<br />granted as per the following resolution:�

<br />Commissioner Albert 0. Helseth introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption
<br />to -wit:
<br />WHEREAS, it is provided by statute that the County Assessor of taxes shall turn over the
<br />original and copies of the 1944 tax assessment roll to this board at a meeting to be held on
<br />the first Monday in October, 1944, and unless time therefore shall be extended; and,

<br />WHEREAS, by reason of unavoidable delay in the approval of certain budgets and the certify
<br />ing to this Board of certain tax levies, the County Assessor of Taxes did not receive the Coun
<br />1 ty tax levy for 1944 in such time that said assessment roll may be presented to this Board at a,
<br />meeting on the first Monday in October, 1944; thereftre,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the day for the turning over to this Board of said assessment roll be
<br />and it is h rewith extended to November 1, 1944. I

<br />Upon being duly seconded by G. E. Barkoskie, the same was unanimously adopted.

<br />Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to investigate the ownership of Ocean View front land
<br />from the Coastgastd North to the Winter Beach bridge.
<br />It was ordered the sum of $73.00 be paid to Lillie Dozier for th care of Walter Alexander,

<br />colored, Fellsmere, Florida, on the basis of $1.00 per day for 73 days with the understanding
<br />the Fellsmere Sugar Company should refund the Board the sum of $31.00 to be applied on said
<br />account.
