• <br />1 <br />i <br />0 <br />operation could be shown to be sufficien,to support revenue certificates and that he believed <br />it would be most advisable to let the people determine the matter at an election and to issue <br />bonds if they approved. He stated that in his opinion a maximum tag levy of 1i mills per year,,, <br />_and. probably -less, would service the bonds. There was considerable discussion as to both <br />1 suggestions; however, no definite action was taken. <br />There was also considerable discussion as to the size of the hospital or number of <br />beds that should be provided for. Some thought fotty beds was in excess of whit was actually <br />needed. After further discussion it appeared that"possibly a thirty or thirty-three bed <br />j hospital would be sufficient' and therefore cost conpiderably less to construct. <br />A committee consisting of Mrs. Garnet Radin and Dr. Robertson 3epresenting the <br />i <br />hospital association together with E. E. Carter re0rosenting the Board of County Commissioners il <br />were appointed, and instructed to investigate and make a survey of the ways and means in which F <br />N hospitals similar to the one contemplated on had been or were being constructed at Live Oak <br />and other -places in Florida where governmental aid had or had not been supplied. <br />Mr. Choles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board was requested to write Senator <br />Pepper seeklaS each information as might be available with regard to the ways and means of <br />constructing hospitals in Florida. <br />On motion of Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Helpling and carried, <br />no definite action was taken pending a result of the survey of the Committee composed <br />of Mrs. Radin, Dr. Robertson and E. E. Carter, together with information from Senator Pepper <br />with the understanding that another meeting be called at a future date when determined <br />advisable. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, <br />1V that Charles A. Mitchell Attorney, and J. L. Helpling, member of the Board attend a County <br />olommissioners' and Attorneys' meeting at Jacksonville to be held January 21-239 19499iepre- <br />senting and in behalf of the.Board of County Commissioners, and that services and expenses be <br />paid for attendance of said meeting. <br />Application for beverage license of John Gunder (Colored), "Green Light Inn", <br />Fellsmere, Florida, Series (2) COP in wet Counties only was approved. <br />Application for beverage license of Edward C. Heil, "The Breezeway", Vero Beach, <br />Florida, Series (2) COP in wet Counties only was approved. <br />Application for beverage license of Robert Waters, "Friendly Cafe", Gifford, Florida' <br />was approved. <br />Application for beverage license of T. -C. Cummings (Colored), West of Oslo on <br />Oslo road, mailing address 502 Avenge D, Vero Beach, Florida, Series (2) COP in wet Counties <br />f only was approved. This application had been formerly presented to the Board at.their regular <br />meeting held Tuesday, December 7, 19489 and approval was withheld as of that date pending <br />further investigation. <br />rj <br />There being no further business on motion duly made, s ecmded and carried, the <br />l <br />Board then adjourned. <br />4 "Q. �? <br />
