526 <br />�I <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board then adjourned as equali- <br />c <br />nation Board and reconvened in regular session. <br />The minutes of the previous meetings ser® egad and approved® <br />Charles- A. Mitchell, Attorney, and E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, <br />lii were instructed to prepare Notice Inviting Bids for trucks returnable August 2, 1949. <br />The following Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Watts who moved its adoption <br />c, as follows, to -wits <br />i' <br />WHEREAS, under and by virtue of the provisions of the laws of Florida and, Parti- <br />cularly, Chapter 259059 Acts of 1949, Indian River County, by and through the Board of County <br />Commissioners of said County, is authorized to establish and set up a county fire control <br />it unit and to enter into a coop®rative agreement for such purpose with the -Florida Board of <br />d Parks; nd <br />Forestry ana <br />Pursuant to said laws of Florida, and in accord therewith, a cooperative agreement <br />^' dated July 5th, 1949, has been prepared for execution by Indian River County, acting by and <br />through its Board of County Commissioners, and the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks; and, <br />WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County has determined <br />and does herewith determine that it is beneficial to Indian River County to execute such <br />li cooperative agreement and to provide for such fire control unit in said Coupty; therefdre, <br />BE IT RESOLVED That the Chairman and Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County are Herewith authorized and directed to execute said cooperative agreement <br />between said County and the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks and in behalf of said County <br />and of this Board and in their respective official capacities and to affix thereto all nec- <br />essary officialsseals and to deliver such exeucted agreements to Florida Board of Forestry and <br />u <br />Parks. <br />Motion for the adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Commissioner Waddell and <br />unanimously carried. <br />At the request of J. W. Boring and Charles C. Jewett, Attorney and member of the <br />City Council of Vero Beach, the following Resolution was adopted. <br />s <br />The following Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Stewart who moved its <br />adoption as follows, ,to -wits <br />r <br />Whereas, the City of Vero Beach has applied to the Bureau of Land Management, <br />Department of Interior, of the United States, to acquire title to the former Bethel Creek <br />House of Refuge Reservation for park purposes, <br />'j and Whereas, the regulations require the approval of the County Commissioners before <br />! the Government will transfer title to a municipality for park purposes; <br />and Whereas, it is for -the best interests of the citizens of Indian River County <br />that the City of Vero Beach acquire this property from the Government for park purposes, <br />NOW, THEREFORE9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMIISSIONERS OF INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDDAs <br />Section 1. <br />That the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida do hereby <br />u <br />i <br />approve the application of the City of Vero Beach to acquire title to the former Bethel <br />G� <br />Creek House of Refuge Reservation for park purposes. <br />The -motion for the adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Commissioner Waddell <br />+, and unanimously carried. <br />sl <br />
