The foregoing application coming on to be heard on this date by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, and after due consideration, the Board having thoroughly <br />investigated said matter and being fully satisfied that said claim is a valid one, <br />It is considered and ordered, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, that the <br />Clerk of the Circuit Court of Indian River County be and he is hereby instructed to issue a <br />duplicate Tax Sale Certificate in favor of the above named applicant in lieu of the Certi- <br />ficate above described which has been lost or destroyed, and that proper record of same be <br />entered in the Tax Sale Record in the office of the said Clerk, as provided in Chap. 193.59 <br />of the Fla. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, <br />with .instructibns`td proceed with the work as requested. <br />Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to write the following letter as follows, <br />to -wits <br />August 1, 1950 <br />Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Com. <br />Tallahassee, Florida <br />Gentlemens <br />Please be advised that our Board of County Commissioners desires to drop any plans <br />for a hearing and investigation of telephone service in Wien River County at the present <br />time. Members of our Board have held several meetings with Mr. A. S. Dobbs, local manager <br />for Southern Bell. <br />We feel that a reasonable attempt has been made to furnish telephone service where <br />necessary. We, also feel that many complaints received by our Board are justified, but that <br />little can be gained through a public hearing at this time due to existing and prospective <br />material shortages. <br />We sincerely appreciate your kind offer of assistance and hope that it will not be <br />necessary to renew our request at a latef date. <br />Sincerely, <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />By Douglas Baker <br />Clerk Board County Commissioners <br />The tax books being ready to be returned to the Tax Assessor for the purpose .of ex- <br />tending the taxes thereon as provided by the law, the Board of County Commissioners took up <br />the matter of making an estimate of the necessary expenses for the fiscal year from October <br />1st, 1950, to the 30th day of September 1951, and having considered the receipts estimated by <br />the Clerk and the Tax Assessor having given full consideration to the needs and necessities <br />of the County and the requirements for the different purposes to meet the expenses during the <br />said fiscal year, have determined and do hereby declare the following to be the expenses and <br />all special and extra -ordinary expenses contemplated for the fiscal year next ensuing and for <br />which the revenue for the year 1950 from ad valorem taxation and the estimated receipts from <br />other sources will be available. <br />
