<br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House
<br />in regular meeting at 10:00 A. M., Tuesday, October 2, 1951, with the following members present:
<br />J
<br />''Tom N. Stewart, Chairman; W. C. Graves, Jr., H. C. Watts, J. J. P. Hamilton and Aubrey L. Waddeli!.
<br />ii
<br />Also present were S. N. Smith, Jr., Attorney; E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent;
<br />L. B. OtSteen, Sheriff; and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
<br />Minutes of the previous meetings were read and the same approved upon motion of
<br />Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried.
<br />Mrs. A. N. Strong, representing the American Red Cross, and Mr. William C. Wodtke
<br />!speaking in behalf of the Junior Women's Club, appeared before the Board requesting financial
<br />assistance towards the cost of an artesian well for the colored Youth Center at Gifford, Florida]
<br />,The Board stated they were appreciative of the work being done and the interest manifested in t
<br />the project and would cooperate collectively and individually as much as possible. I
<br />,I
<br />Messrs. Stanley Franks, Lou Tiller, Frank McDowell, Will Roger, Kit Johnson and
<br />IBill Locke, representing the Indian River County Fishing Tournament, appeared before the Board it
<br />,and requested financial assistance stating the total cost for sponsoring and promoting said
<br />i!
<br />Tournament would be approximately 01500.00. After careful consideration and deliberation, upon
<br />emotion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the matter was
<br />tabled until the next regular.meeting of the Board.
<br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker, appeared before the Board and
<br />;made a report of her activities for the month of September, 1951 and said report was filed with �I
<br />;the Clerk.
<br />At the request of Troy E. Moody, Tax Collector, and upon motion of Commissioner

<br />Graves, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the Board authorized the purchase of an �I
<br />adding machine for the Tax Collector's Office to cost approximately X250.00.

<br />JUVENILE COURT RESOLUTION
<br />Commissioner Watts introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption,
<br />to -wit:
<br />}
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, did
<br />,make and complete the estimate of the necessary and ordinary expenses and all special and extra-�!
<br />ordinary expenditures contemplated as required by law for the fiscal year 1951-1952, which said
<br />I
<br />lestimates were adopted as the budget for said County for said fiscal year; and,
<br />WHEREAS, Chapter 26$$0, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1951, provides for the expenses j
<br />and appropriations required for the Juvenile Court in Indian River County, Florida, which said
<br />expenses were not provided for nor contemplated in the above referred to budget of said County, I
<br />';Now, therefore,
