RESOLUTION NO. 96- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF <br />TRUSTEES OF THE INTERNAL IMPROVEMENT TRUST <br />FUND DESIGNATE CERTAIN LANDS IN INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY AS SURPLUS AND AGREE TO SELL SUCH <br />LAND TO THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida, on November 29, 1995, approved the acquisition <br />of the 7,000 plus acre Coraci tract, part of which is located in Indian River County, for <br />conservation purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the Governor and Cabinet, sitting as the Trustees of the Internal <br />Improvement Trust Fund, in conjunction with their purchase of the Coraci property, directed their <br />staff to work with Indian River County to surplus appropriate portions of the Coraci tract; and <br />WHEREAS, a portion of the Coraci tract land borders 102nd Terrace, a paved <br />county roadway with water and sewer lines and adjacent industrial/manufacturing uses; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County staff and Department of Environmental <br />Protection staff have assessed the portion of the Coraci property adjacent to 102nd Terrace and <br />identified those lands not necessary for resource conservation purposes and depicted those lands <br />in attachment "A"; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County desires to pwchase those parcels adjacent to <br />102nd Terrace and depicted in attachment "A" and develop those tracts for <br />industrial/manufacturing use while protecting the environmental values of the adjacent <br />conservation land; and <br />WHEREAS, a portion of the Coraci property adjacent to the Sebastian River <br />Middle School would be appropriate for county recreational uses; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County staff and Department of Environmental <br />Protection staff have assessed the portion of the property adjacent to the Sebastian River Middle <br />School and identified those lands not necessary for resource conservation purposes and depicted <br />those lands in attachment "A'; and <br />WHEREAS, Florida Statutes Chapter 253 provides the Trustees of the Internal <br />Improvement Trust Fund the authority to surplus state lands and convey those lands to local <br />governments in whose jurisdiction those lands lie, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida that: <br />
