PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING NOVEMBER 22-28, 2002 AS NATIONAL FARM - <br />CITY WEEK <br />Commissioner Adams presented the following Proclamation to Alan Temple, President <br />of the Indian River Farm Bureau: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING NOVEMBER 22 - 28, 2002 <br />AS NATIONAL FARM-C;TY WEEK <br />WHEREAS, since our earliest days as a nation, farmers have tilled the soil of this <br />great land to feed their families, other citizens and people around the world. Over the years, our <br />economy has changed, but the American farm and ranch has remained a vital thread in the <br />fabric of our lives; and <br />WHEREAS, by providing an abundant supply of safe, high-quality food and fiber, our <br />farmers and ranchers contribute to a quality of life in our country that is unmatched around the <br />world; and <br />WHEREAS, farmers and ranchers do not work alone. Farm workers, researchers, <br />educators, processors, shippers, truck drivers, inspectors, agribusinesses, wholesalers, <br />marketers, retailers and consumers, many of whom are in urban and suburban areas, all play <br />important roles in the incredible productivity of our nation's food and fiber system, and <br />WHEREAS, as we gather with family and friends around the Thanksgiving table, it is <br />fitting that we count among our blessings the vital farm -city partnerships that have done so <br />much to improve the quality of our lives. Rural and urban communities working together. have <br />made the most of our rich agricultural resources, and they continue to contribute to the health <br />and well being of our people and to the strength of our economy. <br />NOVEMBER 12, 2002 <br />
