The requests for sea walls continue and permit applications are being <br /> processed . Finally, after Hurricane Floyd, the county qualified for approximately $ 900 , 000 <br /> in restoration emergency funds (FEMA - Federal Emergency Management Agency) for <br /> building some dunes along our shoreline . The permit from Department of Environmental <br /> Protection was just received so we can proceed with restoring about two miles of 20 ' dunes <br /> in the critical areas during the winter months . He has worked in monitoring and <br /> coordinating the beach scraping efforts with homeowners and that has worked out very <br /> well . <br /> In the future, the beach renourishment program is ongoing for three areas of the county , <br /> restore and bypass sand south of Sebastian Inlet . There are also additional coastal <br /> regulations which the Commission has touched on in the past . <br /> Mr. Tabar was congratulated for an excellent presentation by Chairman Adams and <br /> Vice Chairman Ginn , <br /> Vice Chairman Ginnproduced three of her photos showing scouring has occurred <br /> between the Barton and Gerstner properties and that the Gerstner ' s home has actually been <br /> undermined . <br /> Chairman Adams noted that the areas where the PEP reef is located seem to have <br /> fared better than other areas .
