An update of the acquisition information in the County's October 1998 Environmental Lands Program <br /> Report <br /> There was a broad consensus of support for these measures. <br /> The Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory, University of Florida, with funding from the Florida Fish and <br /> Wildlife Conservation Commission's Advisory Council on Environmental Education (ACES), is planning two <br /> workshops on the economic costs and human benefits of hammock and scrub. Community grant partners include the <br /> DowndriR Coalition, Eugenia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, Indian River County Environmental <br /> Planning Section, Indian River County Chamber of Commerce Division of Tourism, Indian River County Historical <br /> Society, North Beach Civic Association, Pelican Island = Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, Pelican Island <br /> Preservation Society, Pelican Island Audubon Society, and Press Journal. <br /> by: In light of the needs discussed at the LAAC, the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory would like to assist <br /> 1 . Producing a tabloid insert for distribution in the Press Journal about the environmental lands purchased <br /> for preservation <br /> 2 . The future plans for land <br /> acquisition have not yet been established and the sentiment seems to be to determine what <br /> we should do and how should we do it . In assigning Dr. Richard Baker, Professor Emeritus , <br /> and Grant Coordinator Janice Broda of the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory to work <br /> with the County staff, they have come up with the proposal which would be partially funded <br /> by Florida Fish and Wildlife and would require a small amount from the County, which he <br /> November 21 , 2000 <br /> 69 BK ! 16 PG 227 <br />
