That will produce a document to <br /> increase public awareness concerning the land acquisition program, along with other <br /> activities to inform citizens of such things as the uses of the lands already acquired and the <br /> type of lands proposed to be acquired with the remaining funds , if it meets with the Board ' s <br /> approval . He planned to make a revision in the resolution that created the LAAC along the <br /> lines of restructuring it which would include perhaps the chairmanship of the committee . He <br /> expected that to come up in January 2001 . <br /> Commissioner Stanbridge and Vice Chairman Ginn thought this was an excellent idea . <br /> Chairman Adams thought there should also be a mailing to the voters as well as <br /> information in Florida Today and the Press Journal . Her point was the circulation of <br /> information should not be limited to just what was mentioned in the letter. <br /> Commissioner Stanbridge agreed that as much information as possible should be out . <br /> Commissioner Macht agreed because of the indication in the Press Journal ' s editorial <br /> that these lands_ are acquired but not made available to the public, which is untrue since it is <br /> required by our grant partner (Florida Communities Trust) that the lands be made available <br /> to some degree to the public . <br /> Commissioner Stanbridge recounted that at a recent meeting of the Governor ' s <br /> Greenway and Trails Committee, there was a list of counties that passed their first land <br /> acquisition legislation . Broward County will issue a bond for $400 million ; it passed by 74 <br /> percentile . Volusia County will issue two bonds at $40 million each . Indian River County <br /> was early in this and we have benefitted from what we have achieved with the land <br /> acquisition program . <br /> Commissioner Macht recalled the committee was criticized for moving so slowly , but <br /> he felt the thoroughness of the committee was one of its best attributes .
